I had NEVER, ever tried Yoga (I’m 52) until I tried a class with Laura In September 2020 at our local Community Hall. I have to say; these classes are fantastic and are something I start looking forward to as soon as our weekly class ends! From the very first class I have loved Laura’s enthusiasm, patience, love of Yoga, her skills as a teacher and her joyful sense of humour. Laura makes every person in our class feel welcome, included, she makes us aware of our progression as skills improve and supports us to feel completely valued. I would recommend working with Laura to anyone looking for an amazing experience.


New to this experience, Laura’s classes were a perfect introduction to yoga for me. From day one I was made to feel very welcome & supported, & several months on the classes continue to find little variances that keep me challenged. I love that it is not just about the poses but includes some very helpful reflections & mindfulness exercises. I look forward to this peaceful hour every week.

Come and join for Hatha Yoga classes: a wonderfully blissful, relaxing, and rejuvinating experience, held at  *The Channon Hall* on Tuesday evenings, meditation, pranayama, asanas, chanting, relaxation. 6:15-7:15pm, $15/class or $12/conc or awesome monthly rate and *Keerong Hall* on Wednesday evenings, meditation, pranayama, asanas, chanting, relaxation. 6:30-7:30pm, $15/class or $12/conc or awesome monthly rate.

The last class of the year will be on Dec 16. Watch this space for a special dark moon yoga class and a full moon class in January. Regular weekly classes will resume at the beginning of February 2021.

Pregnancy and mums & bubs yoga classes will also be on hold over the long summer holiday period. Classes will resume at the start of Feb 2021.

I encourage everyone to develop/continue a home yoga asana (stretching) and pranayama (breathing) practice over this summer period, as well as to rest in shavasana (lying down relaxation pose) regularly.

This workshop will run over 4 weeks. Oct 25th is the first day with a group zoom session at 10am Sydney time. Other times of zoom sessions and fb lives will depend on when you are available… possibly continuing on Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings. Don’t worry, though, we can work around each other’s schedule to find the best time to run these sessions.

Laura Shaz is a certified yoga teacher, Aware Parenting (AwP) instructor and Ayurvedic massage therapist. She holds a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Mediation. She teaches yoga locally and for mums & bubs and pregnant women at the Lismore Birth House, gives massage and holds AwP consultations, workshops and mum’s circles. Yoga for mothers with babies and young children aids in connection, relaxation, stress-release and health through gentle stretches, relaxation exercises, breathing techniques and strengthening postures.

Aware Parenting teaches techniques to enhance your child’s development, solve typical behaviour challenges for your children, help your kids be more relaxed & calm, and in turn sleep better, gain the ability to concentrate for longer, cooperate more, etc. AwP encourages big emotions to be released through crying with connection/tantrums or play/laughter, (rather than suppression or aggression). When little ones (and adults) have released emotions and been heard/supported, they will return to their natural state of love and gentleness. Especially during this pandemic time, big feelings for adults and children will come and will have huge benefits from being expressed and heard.

Pregnancy Yoga in Nimbin

Namaste to Mums-to-be 🙏
Calling all pregnant women who are looking for some quieting down, healing and connection.
I’m so happy that a few Nimbin mums have already expressed interest initiating and asking me to lead a pregnancy yoga class. 🙂 Usually I teach at the Birth House. Since classes have not yet returned there, I will offer a pregnancy yoga class next week on Thursday July 16 at 4pm in Nimbin at Birth & Beyond.
Class will be a soothing and nourishing hour of yoga, which includes stretching (asanas), relaxation, mantras and breathing techniques (pranayama) to help you feel awesome and to ease birthing and the birth of your baby.
Any other pregnant woman who wants to join, is more than welcome to!
The benefits of yoga during pregnancy include:
Improve sleep.
Reduce stress and anxiety.
Increase the strength, flexibility and endurance of muscles needed for childbirth.
Decrease lower back pain, nausea, and headaches.
After class, we will sit for a cuppa and treat that I will provide.
Cost: $15.
